Miley Cyrus has the last LOL
Just a few days ago Miley Cyrus had some Twitter fun at the expense of anti-gay politician Rick Santorum by publicly scolding him online (she also went after conservative-owned/progressively-marketed chain Urban Outfitters) and made it clear that pop star support for LGBT rights doesn’t begin and end with Madonna, Kylie and Gaga. So if anyone out there wants to support Miley where it counts, at the box office – her film career outside of projects with the name Hannah Montana attached hasn’t exactly set the world on fire – it would help to be aware of her two upcoming projects. She’s just finished shooting two comedies, one called So Undercover, where she plays an FBI agent (OK, stop snickering) who goes undercover in a college sorority, and it co-stars Glee’s Mike O’Malley, Kelly Osbourne and Jeremy Piven. She’s also wrapped LOL, a high school saga of peer pressure, cell phones and parents who just don’t understand. That one features Demi Moore, Hung’s Thomas Jane and Gina Showgirls Gershon. The kid has shown that she’s all right, now let’s hope her movies are, too.

In 2008, People magazine asked Miley Cyrus how she would describe herself.
“Coolest. Person. Ev-er! Really, I think I’m chill. I am very hyper but I’m very carefree. That’s something that I definitely inherited from my dad. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed I’ve gotten more like that.”
Three years later, Miley seems to have become even more “carefree” and that must be why she called her latest album Can’t Be Tamed (released locally by MCA Music, Inc., which portrays her in a “more sexualized image”), in the press release for which she has been quoted as saying, “On every project I learn and change. As I’ve gotten older, my image has changed a little bit. I’m more of a woman now than the kid that started on Hannah Montana. I’ve grown up. I’ve learned a lot along the way.”
It must be tough for Miley, who’s turning 19 on Nov. 23, to be growing up in a very public family like the Cyruses whose patriarch is country-singer/actor Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley was born Destiny Hope Cyrus…Hope, because her parents (mother is Leticia “Tish” Finley) were convinced that she would accomplish great things in life. Miley is short for Smiley, the nickname her parents gave Miley because she was said to be always smiling when she was a baby.
Miley’s siblings are, understandably, also into showbiz — Brandi is a guitarist, Noah is an actress and Trace is a vocalist/guitarist of the pop band Metro Station.
According to Miley Cyrus’s wikipedia page, her newest movie “So Undercover” will have a release date of October 13, 2011!

A Decorah girl is being recognized for her work on behalf of the March of Dimes.
Courtney Smith, 12, has been named the top fundraiser in this area for the Northeast Iowa Division of the March of Dimes. Smith has raised over $1,000 in donations in each of the past two years, and has raised a total of $3,345 over the past three years.
She is the daughter of Bill and Kris Smith of Decorah.
Smith’s recognition by the March of Dimes comes just a little over a month the Make-A-Wish Foundation selected her for a trip to Los Angeles to visit Miley Cyrus. Smith is a huge fan of Cyrus, after getting hooked on watching “Hannah Montana” when she was younger.
So when Make-A-Wish asked her what her wish was, she didn’t have to think long.
Smith, her mom and dad, her aunt Karen and her friend, Dallas were flown out to Los Angeles in April where she and 20 other kids were taken out for a meal — followed by private, one-on-one meetings with Cyrus, who gave Smith some advice on where to shop in Los Angeles, then posed for a picture with her.
